Held on the first Saturday of every month except January from 9.30am to 1.00pm at the Old Cattle Market, Porthleven Road, Helston (between Lidl’s and the Boating Lake), Helston’s Farmers’ Market is the place to go to buy top quality local food. Choose from locally baked bread, pastries and cakes, locally reared meat and poultry, vegetables and fruit straight from the farm , fish and shellfish fresh from of the sea, locally made drinks, sauces and even sushi!
The Market was started in 2008 with 13 local producers and has grown to largest of its kind in Cornwall with over 40 producers selling their produce. The market was developed to enable local food producers to sell direct to the public, to give customers the opportunity to buy fresh local produce and to raise public awareness on issues involve locally produced food, sustainable farming and land management.
The Farmers’ Market is exclusively for food and drink – but local crafters have their own opportunity to vend their wares at the Hellys Craft Fairs which are held every few months – see the Old Cattle Market website for more information.
