1st Boroughbridge Scouts (Including Cubs and Beavers)

The Aim and Method of the Scout Association

The aim of the Scout Association is to promote the development of young people, both boys and girls, in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The method of achieving the aim of the Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

1st Boroughbridge Scouts include Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts. Each group takes part in exciting activities and work towards different badges.

There is a waiting list for each section, to enroll your son or daughter please contact Mike Collins as below.

Beavers (Age 6 - 8)
Beavers make friends, play games, learn crafts and go on walks, visits and sleepovers. Beavers meet on Tuesday.

Cubs (Age 8 - 10.5)
Cubs play games, try new activities and can work towards a wide range of badges. They also go camping, where they learn outdoor skills and can try sports such as mountain biking, archery and orienteering. Cubs meet on Friday.

Scouts (Age 10.5 – 14)
Scouts are a very adventurous group. They have fun while trying new challenges, being creative and learning about the world. Half the activities are outdoors including camping, survival, kayaking and abseiling. Scouts meet on Friday.

Explorer Scouts (Age 14 to 18)
Explorer Scouts do not meet on a regular day, but have a timetable of activities at varying locations. Any meetings are in Ripon. The emphasis is even more on outdoor challenges on land, water or in the air. They also do community service, try new skills and can work for their Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Adult Help
Scouting is run by volunteers who can help out at weekly meetings or running the group. After passing the child protection policy check you will be very welcome to join us. Whatever time and skills you have will be appreciated.
